Road Trip Highlight: South Carolina

On this summer's road trip, we are doing things very differently. We will be spending Shabbos in South Carolina instead of Washington! The reason for this is because we will be privileged to attend the graduation of the US Marines which only takes place on Fridays. The visit to Perris Island is one of the highlights of the trip. Perris Island is one of only two bases in the US in which the Marines are trained. We will see how they live, eat, work out, and fight. We will see the obstacle courses that the Marines go through in their training, and in past summers, we've seen them perform martial arts workouts. Shabbos is a big mystery, because we've never done it before in SC, but I am sure it will be amazing. Saturday night we are going ice skating, and Sunday morning we will get up early to go to paintball! Later in the day we will visit Myrtle Beach's Broadway at the Beach - an amazing outdoor mall, with very cool stores, an IMAX theater, a tremendous golf course, and the famous Road Trip Fish. These fish are a sight to see! You will not believe your eyes. If i missed anything, I will add it onto the blog sometime soon.

Camp Week #2

Camp Week #2 begins with a Fireworks celebration in honor of the Fourth of July! Also, Shiriah practice begins! On Monday, the annual girls campus slumber party will take place...but I won't tell you what the theme of the night is this summer yet. You'll have to wait. The first game of the Como Leagues will take place on Monday night as well. On Wednesday, the boys will compete in a one-day special World Cup Soccer Tournament. Teams will be getting their own jerseys. Thursday night is Shiria, dedicated to the summer's theme: Shabbos. Speaking of Shabbos, this Shabbos' theme is Shabbos Bereishis, the first Shabbos in history. Oh yeah, and the Maccabeats, YU's very own accapella group will be here for Shabbos. A big hit amongst the girls last summer.

Road Trip Highlight: Virginia Beach

This day on our trip is usually highly regarded as the best day. The day starts off biking on the Boardwalk of beautiful Virginia Beach. We ride 2,3, and even 6 person bicycles up and down the boardwalk, and I promise you, its a ton of fun. There are also great shops along the boarwalk, and neigboring streets, and its become almost a tradition to crowd into the Haagen Dazs ice cream store as this day has always been a sunny and beautiful one. Following the boardwalk, we make our way to Motor World, an unbelivable Go-Karting arena with 8 different tracks. Have fun trying to crash the girls into each other and into the walls. Also, dare to ride the "Bunjee Jumping" attraction. This is a favorite every year.

New Night Activity!

Have you seen the new Game Show: Minute to Win It? Well, we're bringing it to Morasha this summer. Counselors will compete against each other in ridiculous challenges until the last three remaining Machzor Bet bunks remain. Then, the campers take over. The winning bunk will receive a big prize! Here are some examples from the actual show:

Camp Week #1

The advantage of having Division Heads that are very close to Jeremy is that we get to see the camp calendar before anyone else does. Therefore, starting today, I will fill you in on what will be going on every week in camp...but of course we'll leave some things as a surprise. Camp begins in 73 days! On June 30th. Day one is always exciting, when you can hug all your friends who you've seen last week, and will spend the next eight weeks with. First night entertainment is still a surprise, so you'll have to just wait until camp for that. Of course, leagues begin on the second day, but they boys will be having their evaluations on day one, with the draft taking place that very night. I'm sure we'll all be very excited for the first Pre-Shabbos video, and the first Shabbos kicks off this summer's theme: SHABBOS. Every Shabbos we will be focusing on a different "Shabbos" in history, or different aspect of Shabbos. Stay tuned for more details regarding week #2!

Road Trip News

It's Official! This summer's FimFot Road Trip will be a day longer than usual. Not only that, but we are doing things very differently this year than we have in summers past. For the first time in the trip's history, the Alufim and Fot will be beginning their adventure in the great city of New Orleans! Known for its vibrant night life, and home of the beautiful sounds of Jazz, this city remains one of the liveliest in all of the U.S. despite feeling the repercussions of one of the biggest hurricanes in history - Katrina. New Orleans is one of the top ten most visited cities in the U.S. today. New Orleans is the best U.S. city for live music, cocktail hours, flea markets, antique shopping, and nightlife. The city also ranked second for gay friendliness, overall food and dining, friendliness of residents, and people-watching, behind San Francisco, California, Chicago, Illinois, Charleston, South Carolina, and New York City, respectively.Unfortunately, we will only be able to spend a little less than a day there, but I'm sure we will make our presence known. Check back on the blog for more details regarding the Road Trip!
