As of today...May 27th 2010

34 Days Left to Camp!!!!!!!! We're getting close!

Sneak Peek

Good thing about having Division Heads so close with Jeremy...we can get a sneak peek at this year's calendar. But we were only able to sneak part of it...

Camp Week #4

Camp Week 4 begins with a 4 way Intercamp between Morasha, Mesorah, Lavi, and something else, but I don't remember. It is a great chance for everyone to get to see their friends from all of the surrounding camps. Tisha B'av will be on Tuesday, but on Wednesday we will be brought out of the sadness of the three weeks with the annual G-Squared Event! From what I've been hearing from Jeremy, there are alot of new surprises in this year's G-Squared, but you won't find out about those on the blog! Como Leagues continue on Friday, but this week is the one I'm most looking forward to because week #4's big highlight is FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE!!!! So make sure to get in all your stupid actions before Shabbos 4 so that there will be material to make fun of!

Night Trip

Ok...we are scheduled to go on a night trip to see a movie, and really the best movie playing at that time is one I am extremely excited for: Toy Story 3!!!

How awesome does that look!!! That is not sarcastic, I am legitimately excited to see that movie.
Now, I know that some of the Alufot are upset, and they would really like to see the new Twilight: Eclipse movie. Look at this trailer, and please explain to me how you can be even remotely excited to see this:

It is the same as all the other movies!!!!!!! It looks BORING as HECK. Another on again off again love story between Bela, Jacob, and Edward. WOW! Girls, get your priorities straight.

Camp Week #3

Week 3 begins with trip day with a trip to Hershey Park! Monday is the annual PayDay auction in which campers win "money" to auction on great prizes for their bunk. The second Game of the Como Leagues will take place Monday night as well. Picture Day is on Friday, so girls...start thinking of some ridiculous theme you want to dress up in and then cheer for yourself when you see the picture on the Pre-Shabbos Video. That's all that is on the official camp calendar, but you can be assured that there will be many surprises in FimFot this summer that you weren't expecting.

10 Songs you must have on your ipod before camp:

(In other words, Natan's 10 Favorite Songs of 2010)

10. Tik Tok, Kesha
9. In My Head, Jason Derulo
8. Bad Romance, Lady Gaga
7. Two is Better than One, Boys Like Girls ft. Taylor Swift
6. Need You Now, Lady Antebellum
5. Live Like We're Dying, Kris Allen
4. Hey Soul Sister, Train
3. Haven't Met You Yet, Michael Buble
2. Breakeven, The Script
1. Baby, Justin Beiber

What are your favorite new songs? Post in the comments section below.

Road Trip Highlight: South Carolina

On this summer's road trip, we are doing things very differently. We will be spending Shabbos in South Carolina instead of Washington! The reason for this is because we will be privileged to attend the graduation of the US Marines which only takes place on Fridays. The visit to Perris Island is one of the highlights of the trip. Perris Island is one of only two bases in the US in which the Marines are trained. We will see how they live, eat, work out, and fight. We will see the obstacle courses that the Marines go through in their training, and in past summers, we've seen them perform martial arts workouts. Shabbos is a big mystery, because we've never done it before in SC, but I am sure it will be amazing. Saturday night we are going ice skating, and Sunday morning we will get up early to go to paintball! Later in the day we will visit Myrtle Beach's Broadway at the Beach - an amazing outdoor mall, with very cool stores, an IMAX theater, a tremendous golf course, and the famous Road Trip Fish. These fish are a sight to see! You will not believe your eyes. If i missed anything, I will add it onto the blog sometime soon.

Camp Week #2

Camp Week #2 begins with a Fireworks celebration in honor of the Fourth of July! Also, Shiriah practice begins! On Monday, the annual girls campus slumber party will take place...but I won't tell you what the theme of the night is this summer yet. You'll have to wait. The first game of the Como Leagues will take place on Monday night as well. On Wednesday, the boys will compete in a one-day special World Cup Soccer Tournament. Teams will be getting their own jerseys. Thursday night is Shiria, dedicated to the summer's theme: Shabbos. Speaking of Shabbos, this Shabbos' theme is Shabbos Bereishis, the first Shabbos in history. Oh yeah, and the Maccabeats, YU's very own accapella group will be here for Shabbos. A big hit amongst the girls last summer.

Road Trip Highlight: Virginia Beach

This day on our trip is usually highly regarded as the best day. The day starts off biking on the Boardwalk of beautiful Virginia Beach. We ride 2,3, and even 6 person bicycles up and down the boardwalk, and I promise you, its a ton of fun. There are also great shops along the boarwalk, and neigboring streets, and its become almost a tradition to crowd into the Haagen Dazs ice cream store as this day has always been a sunny and beautiful one. Following the boardwalk, we make our way to Motor World, an unbelivable Go-Karting arena with 8 different tracks. Have fun trying to crash the girls into each other and into the walls. Also, dare to ride the "Bunjee Jumping" attraction. This is a favorite every year.

New Night Activity!

Have you seen the new Game Show: Minute to Win It? Well, we're bringing it to Morasha this summer. Counselors will compete against each other in ridiculous challenges until the last three remaining Machzor Bet bunks remain. Then, the campers take over. The winning bunk will receive a big prize! Here are some examples from the actual show:

Camp Week #1

The advantage of having Division Heads that are very close to Jeremy is that we get to see the camp calendar before anyone else does. Therefore, starting today, I will fill you in on what will be going on every week in camp...but of course we'll leave some things as a surprise. Camp begins in 73 days! On June 30th. Day one is always exciting, when you can hug all your friends who you've seen last week, and will spend the next eight weeks with. First night entertainment is still a surprise, so you'll have to just wait until camp for that. Of course, leagues begin on the second day, but they boys will be having their evaluations on day one, with the draft taking place that very night. I'm sure we'll all be very excited for the first Pre-Shabbos video, and the first Shabbos kicks off this summer's theme: SHABBOS. Every Shabbos we will be focusing on a different "Shabbos" in history, or different aspect of Shabbos. Stay tuned for more details regarding week #2!

Top Ten Things You Can't Leave Home Without For Camp::

1. Underwear
2. Swine Flu Vaccine (Just in Case)
3. Cell Phone
4. Backup Cell Phone (Girls Only)
5. "Axe" for Boys who don't shower very often
6. Candy and Drinks for your Division Head
7. Bear Repellent
8. Camera, so you can take a picture of you and the same three girls a million times, who you will see in school anyway.
9. Backup Backup Cell Phone
10. Your love for camp and Friends....Awww. And also candy for your Division Head.

Road Trip News

It's Official! This summer's FimFot Road Trip will be a day longer than usual. Not only that, but we are doing things very differently this year than we have in summers past. For the first time in the trip's history, the Alufim and Fot will be beginning their adventure in the great city of New Orleans! Known for its vibrant night life, and home of the beautiful sounds of Jazz, this city remains one of the liveliest in all of the U.S. despite feeling the repercussions of one of the biggest hurricanes in history - Katrina. New Orleans is one of the top ten most visited cities in the U.S. today. New Orleans is the best U.S. city for live music, cocktail hours, flea markets, antique shopping, and nightlife. The city also ranked second for gay friendliness, overall food and dining, friendliness of residents, and people-watching, behind San Francisco, California, Chicago, Illinois, Charleston, South Carolina, and New York City, respectively.Unfortunately, we will only be able to spend a little less than a day there, but I'm sure we will make our presence known. Check back on the blog for more details regarding the Road Trip!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Half Hard and Half Cold Bagels for winning the Favorite Breakfast food in camp!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Danielle Silber!!!!!

The return of the Alufim Trophy!

Last summer, I instituted a new concept in Alufim, and that was the Alufot Trophy! This summer, we will be adding the Alufot Trophy. The Trophy will be handed, at the beginning of the summer, to a camper who competes and wins one of the first night activities of the summer. From then on, that camper will have to defend his trophy in other spontaneous contests throughout the summer. A trophy can be taken away by the Division Head from the trophy holder if they display bad behavior. What do you get if you are the trophy holder? Well, first of all, you cannot be denied a golf cart ride if either Sarah or myself are driving one, and there is room for you. Secondly, if you are holding the trophy on a Friday, you and a friend of your choosing will go to Dee Jays and Pizza. Lastly, you will be able to cut the line at the canteen.
Important Disclaimer: The Trophy holder does not get an exemption from going to Shiur.
Let the games begin!

New Night Activity!

Panoply is coming to Machzor Bet this summer. What is Panoply you ask? Panoply is a fun, interactive, multimedia trivia game that includes questions ranging a broad range of different topics from TV, Movies, Torah, Music, and Morasha Trivia. Machzor Bet will be split into teams of 10, and each team will attempt to asnwer as many answers as they can. The winning team receives a night out of camp where you will travel to Como Pizza for Dinner, Wal-Mart, and possibly a Movie in the Hancock Movie Theater.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Rachel Wolkoff for winning the "Who's Gonna Get Rocked The Most at FNL" poll. I'm sure that Rachel will love this attention and post a million comments on the blog, only to be made fun of more in FNL.

FimFot Camper appears in local newspaper!

This past weekend, our very own Jamie Simon, appeared in the Jewish Star, a weekly local newspaper! Together with her sister Rachel, and Elianna Brecher, Jamie modeled for a picture at NCSY's Project Frumway fashion show. We should all try to be like Jamie and become involved in our communities and show up in newspapers!

Switch the Counsler Day!

The Fim and Fot will switch counslers for a full day during the summer. Girls will coach Boys Leagues, and the Boy counslers will have to accompany the girls to Baking and Scrapbook making, or whatever other girly activities they take part in (except Dance and Swim of course).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

FimFot10.blogspot.com wants to wish a very special Happy Birthday to Jamie Simon!!!
If you have a birthday coming up, email FimFot@gmail.com and we will post it on the blog just like we did for Jamie.

Congratulations!!!

Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints on winning this year's Superbowl. Interestingly, New Orleans will be the NEW First destination on the FimFot Road Trip. This year's trip will be very different than years past! Get excited!!!

New Team Name...

We're looking to name the Morasha Sports teams for the Como Leagues coming up this summer. Right now, The MoraSharks is in the running. If you have any creative ideas, email them to FimFot10@gmail.com. Winner goes to DJ's with Natan.

Shabbos Reunion!!!

This Shabbos, February 5-6, will be the Second Machzor Bet Annual Shabbos Reunion. Davening and Video Friday Night, accompanied by a new Machzor Bet Pre-Shabbos Video, then a Tisch friday night, and Ice Skating Saturday Night with special surprise giveaway! If you didn't sign up yet, do it, and find a place to go for Shabbos! If you have any questions, email FimFot10@gmail.com.

Winner!!

Congratulations to Grilled Cheese on becoming the #1 Favorite Lunch voted on by FimFot 2010 Campers. I still cannot believe it, because I happen to think Grilled Cheese is second to worst lunch, after fish sticks. The only thing that maybe saves Grilled Cheese is the Tomato Soup with the, as Rachel calls it, yellow things swimming in it.

Hilarious American Idol Audition

This is a hilarious audition from last week's audition episode of American Idol. Enjoy!

It's Official !!!

FimFot '10 would like to welcome SARAH AUERBACH as the Alufot 2010 Division Head!!! Sarah is a long-time Morasha member, having been Alufot Counsler in 2008, and Sulam Counsler in 2009. She really understands how to create a fun time for her campers, and knows the Alufot camper mentality very well. Sarah is currently a Junior in Stern College for Women, where she is studying Psychology. Sarah resides in New Rochelle with her brothers Adam, Kenny, and Jordan, and parents Drs. Alisa and Neal Auerbach. Sarah enjoys shopping at New Roc Glatt to help her mom prepare for Shabbos. Most of all, Sarah is a great friend. Sarah will be an amazing addition to the FimFot '10 family!!!

Save The Date!

The rumors are true. February 5-6. Shabbaton Reunion in the Five Towns. Fim/Fot, Gim/Got, Ilanot. More details to come...
